Aziz Ahmad joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2021. He maintains a broad business and transactional practice for the University, focusing on matters concerning sponsored research, research compliance, policy, and intellectual property.

Aziz received a B.A. in biology from Transylvania University and both a J.D. and LL.M. in Intellectual Property (with an emphasis in Biotechnology) from the University of Dayton School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office as a registered patent attorney. Aziz has held legal and commercial roles throughout his career. As counsel and manager of corporate affairs for a publicly traded regenerative medicine company, he supported the commercialization of several cellular therapy products by advising on transactional, intellectual property, compliance, and other corporate matters. He joined UT after serving Marathon Petroleum Corporation, where he provided counsel to its family of companies on operational and business development initiatives while leading its corporate intellectual property practice.
