Jared Garceau joined the Office of General Counsel in 2024 and focuses his practice on business and transactional matters, with a focus on sponsored research, research compliance, policy, and general business and real estate.

Jared is a dual graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee Haslam College of Business, and his JD, summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law. After law school, Jared spent nine years in private practice at the Knoxville office of Lewis Thomason, P.C., where he became a shareholder and practiced in the areas of business and commercial law. Immediately before joining the Office of General Counsel, Jared spent over a year serving as in-house counsel and Chief Legal Officer of a privately held federal contractor who performs federally funded service and construction projects both domestically and internationally.
